Daxlore Salukis are internationally recognised for their distinctive type and temperament, sound conformation and movement.

Daxlore History

The Daxlore kennel was established in the early 1950s by the late Eileen Skelton-Fortune. Mrs. Skelton-Fortune held the breed record for Challenge Certificates (18 CCs) with Ch. Alexandra of Daxlore (born in 1959) and subsequently her granddaughter Ch. Skybelle of Daxlore (born 1969) who gained her championship title when under 18 months of age.

Ch. Alexandra of Daxlore, a very lightly marked cream and white particolour, attracted many new enthusiasts to the breed, including many of today's top breeders, when her photograph was used to illustrate the breed in the Observer Book of Dogs. Her photograph was also used to illustrate the breed standard of points in the Yearbook of the American Kennel Club.

Ch. Skybelle of Daxlore
's record of 29CCs was only exceeded in recent years. Even with more CCs on offer than in her day, Skybelle's record has been surpassed only by one dog and one bitch. In her short career (she was retired aged 4 and a half for maternal duties), she also won 7 Hound Groups, Reserve Best in Show at Birmingham National and Richmond Championship shows and was Top Hound of the Year in the UK.
